Lag ja gale ke phir yeh

Haseen raat ho na ho…

Shayad phir iss janam mein

Mulaqaat ho na ho

“Can I get a hug?” He asked worrying about the answer. But she just came closer hugged him without wanting to answer or waiting for him to come towards her.

Her touch was something he longed for past 4 years. Finally after a random drunk message she agreed on meeting him. The timing was so perfect, that he messaged her just a day after she landed here. Maybe it was meant to be, maybe this hug was suppose to happen.

Humko mili hain aaj yeh

Ghadiyaan naseeb se

Jee bhar ke dekh leejiye

Humko qareeb se

They sat on a bean bag overlooking the stars. Stargazing together was always what they wished for. The lights were dimmed and hands were held tight. As the song lyrics played they stared at each other forgetting, blurring everything in sight, except themselves. Those mesmerizing eyes showed some pain but also the love lost and waiting to be found, never to leave again.

Paas aaiye ke hum nahin

Aayenge baar baar

Baahein gale mein daal ke

Hum ro lein zaar zaar

Their eyes met.. longing for the touch

Longing for the taste of her skin

Longing for the smell of his breath

They both leaned forward for a hug and hugged like they had never before. Their bodies intervened like it were familiar to the touch, to the warmth and knew exactly the right places where they fit perfectly.

Aankhon se phir yeh pyaar ki

Barsaat ho na ho

Shaayad phir is janam mein

Mulaqaat ho na ho

They just couldn’t let go of themselves. The longing was mutual and it felt like eternity. Her smell, her touch, her presence was always missed by him and so did she. Their lips met like the first rain drop on the scorching land, it was blissful. They kissed like there was no tomorrow.

Lag jaa gale ke phir yeh

Haseen raat ho na ho

Shaayad phir iss janam mein

Mulaqaat ho na ho

But like every story ends, they had to bid goodbye. They couldn’t say a word to each other while he was driving her back to drop home. They reached the destination and it was time to say goodbye. He was never good at it, maybe she wasn’t either but had no choice. They crossed the road and he held her hand so tight that he never wanted her to go. He didn’t wish to let her go again. He wanted her to stay, but he wanted her to say that on her own.

She didn’t..

She left, placed a last goodbye peck on the cheek and that was it.

The last goodbye.

I love you, these words choked in his throat but never came out in those moments.

Maybe, that’s why he is sitting here writing this, trying to play the song again and again, wondering...

Shaayad phir iss janam mein

Mulaqaat ho na ho
